During the two weeks of intersection, me and my partner did a beautiful fountain made out of bamboo. It took us one week to finish this project. First our techer bought us bamboo, then we sand it with sand paper because we did not like the way it was brought in to us, then with fine paper, and last we paint it with something special, to make it more shiny. This is how it came out:

This is the description:

Bamboo Fountain

Bamboo plants can be used for many different things, and my partner and I made this beautiful fountain.
Many people use bamboo plant to decorate their garden, hot tub, around the pool, etc. Also for good luck, like the Curly Bonzai Money Tree it will bring luck and fortune to any household, business or people you care.
Most large bamboos grow quicker and do their best in full sun. Bamboos are happiest in a moderately acidic loamy soil. If your soil is very heavy you can add organic material. Bamboos can be planted at any time of the year in areas with mild climates such as we have in the maritime Pacific Northwest. In colder parts of the world they should be planted outdoors early enough to become established and to harden off sufficiently to survive their first winter. Watering is more critical as bamboo does not like to dry out, nor it likes to be soggy.

In class our teacher gave us a vocabolary word for each of us, and my vocabolary word is Cultivation.
Cultivation:
-To improve and prepare (land), as by plowing or fertilizing, for raising crops; till.
-To loosen or dig soil around (growing plants).
-To grow or tend (a plant or crop).

Field Trip #3

On Tuesday we went to a field trip, and it was very arresting! We saw many different things, in just one place. Our class saw, many different type of plants, museums, gift shops, etc. The only place that has those many things is Balboa Park. Out of al of the places that we went (Museum of Photographic Arts, Museum of San Diego History, Botonical Foundation) my favorite place was the Botonical Foundation. Wish looks like this:

There were many different types of flowers in Botonical Foundation, in which I admire a lot. Of course, the best thing that I liked about it was that there were a lot more colors to look and not just one color. My favorite one was this one (on the right)because of the color, the texture, and every thing else about, and I am sure we all agree about that.

Today we went to Torrey Pines field trip. Of course we had so much fun,

and my favorite part about it was when we saw dolphins and especially the beautiful flowers .

The difference between the field trip that we went on Tuesday and the one that we went today was that this one was much more exciting in many ways. Like instead of smelling the junk that we usually throw plus all of the trash that citizens throw in San Diego, we smelled the fresh air of natural plants, the ocean, etc. Another thing that was different from the landfill was that there was a beautiful beach, and a fantastic view from the mountains.

The animals that we saw were squirrels, and ravens. The plants that we saw, were not that great as we see normally. They are called Coast Cholla (on your left)t, and Coast Prickly Pear.

Have you ever wonder where all of the trash that you throw goes?
Our intersession teacher took us to a landfill. A landfill is a place where you deposit all of the junk from your house to a much bigger space. (here is a picture of a landfill on your left) All of the trash that you throw on your garbage goes to this place. However researchers have predicted that this place will be filled with junk in 2012, and that is a very short time. Our teacher decided to take us to a place where all of the trash that we throw goes, so we can see this with our own eyes, and think of how much we waste and not recycle.

Projects

So we are going to sort of a candle made out of gel wax. Inside the candle will be plants in it ( one of the most beautiful flowers that we can think of ). The reason why we are doing this is because we think that this will keep the plant alive, and we can conserve them maybe for life.

Another project that we are going to do is sort of like a fountain. But this one will be out of coconut. For this we are going to cut in half a coconut, and put water in it, and also a water lili
And what do plants have to do with this?

Well
